we haven't got anyone that can play Left Back to stop (sic) level standard either

Re: Rangers Friendly
we haven't got anyone that can play LWB to stop level standard, we don't have one conventional forward let alone two at the club but yes, let's play 3-5-fucking 2

"Surely the 352 formation which will be used by a few teams next season should have been tested "

That's what I meant earlier about playing 2 strikers (admittedly we dont actually have 2 senior strikers at the club!).

But we need to stick two attackers on teams that are organised defensively. 3-5-2 seems a good shout especially with Aguerd being left footed. We should have tried that.

Re: Rangers Friendly
Listening to Moyes after the game makes me think he's shitting it now. He said that looking at what he'd seen in the opening games that he needs to add pretty quickly to the squad he's got.

He never says stuff like that. He's always given the impression that the team is good enough and he can wait for the "right" players.

I think its been evident since xmas that has been bollocks. Despite the poor defensive display we lack creative going forward. We used to be a team that was guaranteed to score, regardless of how many we let in. Therefore teams were always wary of us.. do you sit back? do you go at them? because they will get goals etc,

Nowadays, just sit back against a West Ham team and be organised and nothing much happens. And even if they get a chance they aren't clinical enough to put it away.

I always think you take your form from the end of last season into the new one. And I dont see anything has changed. Moyes needs a bit of an overhaul if we are to achieve anything like what we did in previous seasons.

Re: Rangers Friendly
Why in a pre season friendly did/do we not change the formation and try something different against a team that will attack us ? Surely the 352 formation which will be used by a few teams next season should have been tested ? What harm would that have done. We're too predictable playing the 4231.

Re: Rangers Friendly
We've not improved the team. Centre back was the least of our worries, we desperately need a left back, centre mid, left winger, attacking midfielder and striker like we did at the end of the season.

If you stand still, you decline in this league.

QQQ - Yea, the new bloke is injured and Flynn whatshisname won't be a starter, so no change at all, which is criminal.

Re: Rangers Friendly
Dont pay attention to friendlies but looks a poor result & sounds like the continuation of Brighton ....especially as 12 months ago we went to Glasgow and smashed Celtic 6-2.
Albeit before Big Ange cleared them out.

Signings are coming .... like Christmas.

Re: Rangers Friendly
Like it or not the spin of the current signings seems to have won some over. Reality is we have pretty much the same starting 11 that was out on its feet last year and give or take a few games.
New signings couldn’t come any sooner… well they could have come sooner

Moyes said Aguerd ‘s injury is not a break ( x-Ray) but his ankle ballooned up immediately. Sounds like ligaments. Out for 4 - 6 weeks typically :-(

Is the good news.

The bad news is he has to have it amputated.

Re: Rangers Friendly
biggest problem we have is that we cant beat an organised side.

Yes, we can keep the ball and pass it left to right etc.. but we aren't clinical enough when we get a chance (Antonio 1 on 1 again...) and we get so few chances against disciplined sides that we generally won't get anything out of these games.

Maybe we really need to think about playing with a second striker for these type of games?
